Polytechnique de Montréal is affiliated to UdeM, not UQaM. And it is Jeff who contemplates Guernica at minute 23, not the killer. The film is flawless, it's just a pitty that Canadian men still have to bear a collective blame for this tragedy.

Denis,

I heard the interview and, since your English is good enough, allow me to send you this note to tell you that the terrible event where many women were sacrificed founds its reasons in the origin of religion and its gender related issues.
A series of paintings, by a Quebec artist named Vita, illustrates the reasons for a justified feminism.
In it, you may also see why many women fail to know the culprit that makes their life into a difficult journey.

Regards,

Vittorio Canta

Oldboy is up for a remake, produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Will Smith. Last time I checked, Oldboy is an instant classic and contemporary masterpiece and is rightfully so.

Most of what you mention sounds to me like you hadn't picked up on the structure of the film and I would recommend you do so because this film grossly sidestepps cliches in most instances.
Now, a formula exists in every film and tv show so that what you call cliches in this film are simply part of the formula, and they need to belong, strengthening the structure of the film.

I like your honesty and I have a word of advice for you: rephrase your sentences so that you never write cliched sentences like "he happens to be" or "did I mention".

You can read my film reviews at commentarytrack.com Just look for my name under "writers".

Wow, I am shocked, SHOCKED that a French Canadian film critic gave a poor rating to a movie that focused on Canadiana outside of Quebec.
Shocking.

[...] One Week Many will like One Week. Joshua Jackson, for some, will be a likeable character who re-evaluates his life in the face of imminent death. The message is clear: if you had one week to live, how would you live it differently? It is a valuable life lesson for all, but it comes in a rather drab package. As the director’s main goal was not story and rather Canadiana, there really is only the hollow shell of a message, contrived as a means to an end. It’s too bad. Read more of my review here.
I would have at least given it a 6/10. Not the greatest film, but worth more than a 4.

I KNOW that I'm the only one who thinks this, but I believe that Blindness was the best Canadian film of 2008 (it is actually my number 2 overall). However, I do agree that My Winnipeg deserved more respect. On another note, 2009 is turning out to be a good year. It's only April and we have already had two fantastic releases in Pontypool and Polytechnique.
